Description
The Middle Space (TMS), currently a project within the School of Social Work's Jordan Institute for Families at the UNC, Chapel Hill, is designed for launch as a private, non-profit organization affiliated with the Institute, School, and University. TMS is an organizational hybrid that operates at the intersection of the public, private, and non-profit sectors. It offers innovative leadership, instructional design, and learning services to these sectors through a leadership model that builds the capacity for organizations to create social, financial, and environmental benefits for the populations they serve.
Vision
TMS envisions a society where individuals, organizations, and communities with diverse perspectives and interests integrate their differences and create new ways of doing business that benefit people, the economy, and the environment.
Mission
The Middle Space's (TMS) mission is to find solutions to complex societal and business challenges. TMS makes this possible by engaging individuals, families, organizations, and communities. Together we design new approaches and innovative business and social practices that increase social, economic, and environmental benefit. TMS uses an integrative approach to translate evidence-based knowledge and research, proven learning practices, and social values into practical design and service products. These products are delivered by engaging and convening people, framing conversations, and ultimately integrating diverse perspectives and ideas; thereby furthering the mission of the Jordan Institute for Families, the School of Social Work, and the University of North Carolina.
